Lotus Counseling was developed out of a vision and desire to help people in need through a holistic and compassionate environment. The lotus flower grows and beautifully blooms in muddy water. The seed of the lotus flower symbolizes spiritual growth and the ability to arise above obstacles. All people, at one time or another, have been stuck in the mud and some have arose to find themselves better and more beautiful than before. We believe that with support and compassion we can help people rise past there difficulties and emerge in an even better place than before.
We offer individual, group and couples counseling and a meditative yoga practice. Sherry Cosner-Marentay is a licensed clinical social worker and the founder of Lotus Counseling and Wellness Center. Sherry offers therapy services to individuals 13yo and older and couples.
Our yoga instructors are Brandy Kelley and Jessica Sutton. It is our belief that by offering these services to others in need they can find a peace within our office that will resonate with them in their lives. These services can offer life altering changes when implemented on a regular basis. Our services can be used in unison together or apart from one another. If you are at a point in your life where you feel stuck and need some assistance in making change in your life we are here to help.
Mental Health doesn't exist in a vacuum. We believe that there is a physical connection. Restorative Yoga is a practice that is designed to balance out our busy lifestyle by engaging in constructive rest. It encourages us to slow down, relax, and rejuvenate our tight and tired minds and bodies. In this class, you may find some active, but gentle movements or poses, as well as various breathing techniques, but mostly, you’ll be sinking into passive postures on the floor that are supported by cushions and blankets. These postures will be held for 5-15 minutes to allow the body and mind to fully surrender and let go of their tension. The benefits of this practice include reduced stress and stress related symptoms such as headaches, backaches, anxiety, and insomnia, a slower heart rate, increased blood flow to your vital organs, a boosted immune system, and enhanced mood.
